About SSC Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination 2024

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is going to hold an Open Competitive Computer Based Examination 2024 (CHSL) for recruitment of various Group 'C' Non-Gazetted Government jobs vacancies for various Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations in the Government of India.

Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination (CHSL) 2024 is one the most prominent recruitment examination conducted annually where vacancies of Lower Divisional Clerk/ Junior Secretariat Assistant and Data Entry Operators etc. are in Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations of Central Government, including their Attached and Subordinate offices located in various States and Union Territories all over the country.

The CHSL Recruitment Examination 2024 will consist of Computer Based Examination (Tier-I), Descriptive Paper (Tier-II) and Skill Test/ Typing Test (Tier-III).

Age limit for SSC JE

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has set specific age limits for candidates applying for the Junior Engineer (JE) positions in the 2024 recruitment cycle.

For the Border Roads Organization, Brahmaputra Board, Central Water Commission, Central Water and Power Research Station, DGQA-NAVAL, Farakka Barrage Project, Military Engineer Services (MES), and National Technical Research Organization (NTRO), the upper age limit is set at 30 years. Candidates should be born before August 2, 1994, and not later than August 1, 2006.

For the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), the age limit is slightly higher, with an upper limit of 32 years for candidates applying for JE positions in Civil and Electrical/Mechanical Engineering. Candidates should be born before August 2, 1992, and after August 1, 2006.

Age Relaxations

The SSC provides relaxation in the upper age limit for specific categories of candidates, as per government norms:

• SC/ST: 5 years of age relaxation beyond the upper age limit.
• OBC: 3 years of age relaxation beyond the upper age limit.
• Persons with Disabilities (PwD) [Unreserved/EWS]: 10 years of age relaxation.
• PwD (OBC): 13 years of age relaxation.
• PwD (SC/ST): 15 years of age relaxation.
• Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 3 years of age relaxation after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age.

SSC JE Recruitment 2024 Selection Procedure

To proceed to the next stage, candidates need to meet the minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I (Computer-Based Examination). Their normalized marks in Paper I determine eligibility for Paper II, with category-based shortlisting.

For branches like Electrical and Mechanical, if Paper II is held in multiple shifts, marks are normalized accordingly. Final selection hinges on performance in both papers and candidates' preferences for Posts/Organizations/Offices.

Allocation to posts is merit-driven, respecting candidates' preferences. Post-allocation decisions made by the Commission are final, with no alterations permitted thereafter, under any circumstances.

Educational Qualification: Graduation in any discipline from any recognised University. (ii) Statistics/ Mathematics / Economics / Commerce subjects in Graduation for the post of Statistical Investigator Gr.II (iii) Bachelor's Degree with Economics or Statistics or Mathematics as compulsory of Elective subject.  For the posts of Assistants (CSS), Computer Proficiency has been prescribed as an essential qualification.
