DELHI JUDICIAL SERVICE (DJS) EXAMINATION, 2010 (DJSE-2011)

The High Court of Delhi will hold written examination for direct recruitment to Delhi Judicial Service in two stage selection process comprising Preliminary Written Examination of Objectivue type on 18/12/2011 and and Delhi Judicial Service Main Exam (Written) for selection of candidates for calling for Viva Voce.
- Delhi Judicial Service Exam - 2011 : 50 posts (UR-23, SC-6, ST-15, PH-6), Pay Scale : Rs. 9000-14500/- (PB-3 Rs.15600-39100 grade pay Rs.5400 in new scales). Qualification : A candidate shall be eligible to appear in the examination if he/she is (a) a Citizen of India, (b) a Law Graduate from a recognised university, (c) a person practicing as an Advocate (d) AGE LIMIT - not more than 32 years of age as on 1st January, 2012, i.e. on the 1st day of January following the date of commencement of the examination.
Preliminary Examination - The Preliminary Examination will be a Screening Test and will consist of one paper of multiple objective type questions carrying maximum of 200 marks. In the preliminary examination question on general knowledge and aptitude of the candidate, candidate's power of expression, flair in english, knowledge of objective type legal problems and their solutions covering Constitution of India, Code of Civil Procedure, Code of Criminal Procedure, Indian Penal Code, Contract Act, Partnership Act, Principles Governing Arbitration Law, Evidence Act, Specific Relief Act and Limitation Act will be included.
Exam. Date : The Delhi Judicial Service Preliminary Examination (Objective Type) referred to above, conducted on Sunday, the 18th December, 2011 .
Application Form : Application form including the DJSE Registration Form can be had personally on payment of Rs.600/- each for General Category candidates and Rs. 100/- for SC/ST/PH candidates on any working day from 21/09/2011 to 20/10/2011 from the Filing Counter of Delhi High Court or by sending at his own risk, a self-addressed envelope of 38 cm X 25 cm size with Postage Stamp of Rs. 60/- affixed on it along with Demand Draft of Rs. 600/- for General Category candidates and Rs. 100/- for SC/ST/PH candidates in favour of Registrar General, Delhi High Court, New Delhi, payable at New Delhi, in an envelope addressed to Joint Registrar (Vig.), Delhi High Court, New Delhi, superimposed with words in bold letters, "DJS EXAMINATION 2011".
How to Apply :
Applications on the prescribed form and the DJSE Registration Form duly filled in as per Instructions, should be sent by "Registered Post Acknowledgement Due" addressed to the Joint Registrar (Vig.), Delhi High Court, Sher Shah Road, New Delhi – 110 003, by designation, enclosed in the envelope provided with the application form so as to reach him not later than 4:00 P.M. on 22.10.2011. Applications can also be submitted personally at the Filing Counter of Delhi High Court on any working day from 10:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. and 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. till 22.10.2011.
Candidates must send their Application alongwith DJSE Registration Form by "Registered Post Acknowledgement Due" addressed to the Joint Registrar (Vig.), High Court of Delhi, Sher Shah Road, New Delhi - 110003, by designation, enclosed in the envelope provided with the Application Form so as to reach him before the last date of receipt of applications as prescribed in the advertisement. Applications can also be submitted personally at the Filing Counter of Delhi High Court from 10:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. and 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on any working day, till the last date of receipt of applications.
Selection Process :
General Knowledge and Language : This paper shall comprise of two sections.Section I : General Knowledge : This is to test the candidate's knowledge of current affairs etc. (100 Marks)

The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination by the candidates who are declared qualified for admission to the Main Examination (Written) will not be counted for determining their final order of merit

Section II : Language (Easay, Translation and Precis Writing) :
one in English which will be required to be translated into Hindi (in Devnagri Script). The Second passage in Hindi (in Devnagri Script) shall be required to be translated into English.
This is to test the candidate's knowledge and power of expression in English. Credit will be given both for substance and expression. Conversely deduction will be made for bad expression, faults of grammer and misuse of words etc. There will be two passage for translations (150 marks) ----------------------
Civil Law-I :
Indian Contract Act, Indian Sale of Goods Act, Indian Partnership Act, Specific Relief Act, Hindu Law, Mohammadan Law, Delhi Rent Control Act and Law of Torts. (200 marks)Civil Law-II : Civil Procedure Code, Law of Evidence, Law of Limitation & Law of Registration. (200 marks)Criminal Law : Criminal Procedure Code, Indian Penal Code & Indian Evidence Act. PART-IVViva-Voce - Viva-voce will carry 150 marks. Only such candidates will be called for Viva-voce who have obtained 40% marks in each written paper and 50% marks in aggregate except in the case of candidates belonging to reserved categores i.e. Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Physically Handicapped (Blind/Low Vision) (mobility not to be restricted)/Orthopaedically in whose case the qualifying marks shall be 35% in each written paper and 45% in the aggregate. A candidate of General Category must secure minimum 50% marks and a candidate of Reserved Category i.e. Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Physically Handicapped (Blind/Low Vision) (mobility not to be restricted)/Orthopaedically must secure minimum 45% marks in Viva-Voce to be eligible for being recommended for appointment to the service.
The marks obtained in the Viva-voce will be added to the marks obtained in the Main Examination (Written) and the Candidate's position will depend on the aggregate of both.
