Applications are invited from unmarried Men and Women candidates for Short Service Commission in Air Traffic Control Cadre of Executive Branch, of the Indian Navy for Course commencing Jan 2012 at Indian Naval Academy (INA) Ezhimala, Kerala
ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
2. Age. 19 ½ to 25 years i.e. born between 02 Jan 1987 and 01Jul 1992 (both dates inclusive).
3. Educational Qualifications.
(a) B Sc in Physics, Mathematics or Electronics with minimum 60% marks or
(b) M Sc in Physics, Mathematics or Electronics.with minimum 55% marks
Note: Candidates who have not completed their Degree (i.e appearing candidates) need not apply.
4. Physical Standards
(a) Height and Weight. Minimum height - Male- 157 cms, Female -152 cms with correlated weight.
(b) Eye Sight. The minimum acceptable vision standard for distant vision 6/9, 6/9 correctable to 6/6, 6/6 with glasses and should not be colour/night blind.
SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION
5. Short Service Commission is granted for a term of 10 years, extendable to 14 years,subject to service requirement and performance/willingness of the candidate. On completion of these tenures, officers are entitled for gratuity under the extant rules.
Disciplined life, leadership qualities and professional skills imbibed during the service would stand as added advantages in acquiring second career, post exit from the Navy.

(b) Application must be sent in the form available on website http://www.nausenabharti.nic.in/
(c) Application must be accompanied by attested copies of : - (i) 10th Standard Certificate for verification of date of birth and other educational certificates.
(ii) Marks statement of all semesters/years.
(d) Application and requisite enclosures must be properly tagged/stapled. Integrated
Headquarters ,Ministry of Defence (Navy) {IHQ-MoD (Navy)} will not be responsible for loss of enclosures, if sent loose.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
7. (a) The candidates will be issued call up for Services Selection Board (SSB) based on their performance in Degree Course. If a candidate possesses higher qualification with better percentage, his/her higher qualification will be considered for cut off. Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence(Navy) reserves the
right to shortlist applications and to fix cut off percentage. SSB interviews for short listed candidates will be scheduled at Bangalore /Bhopal/ Coimbatore during Aug to Nov 2011.
(b) Stage I test consisting of Intelligence test, Picture Perception and Discussion test will be conducted on the second day of arrival at SSB. Candidate who fail to qualify in Stage I will be routed back on the same day. Stage II tests comprising of Psychological testing, Group testing and Interview will last for 04 days.
Successful candidates will thereafter undergo Medical Examination (approx duration 03-05 days).
(c) Candidates recomended by the SSBs and declared medically fit, will be appointed for training in order of All India Merit depending on the number of vacancies.
(d) Change of SSB venue for interview is not permissible.
(e) Any correspondence regarding change of SSB dates be addressed to the President of the concerned SSB on receipt of call up letter and copy endorsed to Directorate of Manpower Planning & Recruitment (OI & R), Room No. 204, ‘C’ Wing, Sena Bhawan, IHQ-MoD(N), New Delhi-110011. Award of fresh dates for SSB would be subject to availability.
(f ) No compensation will be paid in respect of injury sustained as a result of tests.
(g) Return 2nd Class Sleeper rail fare is admissible for the SSB interview, if appearing for the first time for the entry.
8. TRAINING - Candidates will be inducted as officers in the rank of Sub Lieutenant in Jan 2012 and
undergo Naval Orientation Course at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala followed by professional training at various Naval Training Establishments/Units/Ships. Full Pay and allowances are admissible to the Officers whilst undergoing training.
9. TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Selected Candidates will be on a probation for 02 yrs from the date of reporting to the Indian Naval
Academy or the date of commencement of training whichever is later.Any candidate found married
or whomarrieswhile undergoing trainingwill be discharged.He/She shall be liable to refund full pay
& allowances drawn by him/her and any other expenditure incurred on him/her by the Govt. On
completion of training, ATC officers can be transferred anywhere for ATC duties.
10. DUTIES OFAN AIR TRAFFICCONTROL OFFICER
The Indian Navy operates various types of modern aircraft from shore based airfields as well as from ships. Air Traffic Control Officers in the Indian Navy control naval fighter aircraft, maritime reconnaissance aircraft and multi role helicopters both ashore and afloat. In no other career, an officer gets exposed to such a wide spectrumof opportunities to keep abreast of modern and latest developments in the field of Air Traffic Control. 11. Promotions & Pay Scale: Promotion from Sub-Lieutenant to Commander is on time scale basis subject to fulfillment of requisite service conditions. The Pay Scale and promotion criteria are as follows:-
