1. Indian Air Force offers opportunities for UNMARRIED MALE INDIAN CITIZENS from all
the Districts of State of Nagaland, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh to become airmen.
The Recruitment Test for Group 'Y' (Non-Technical) {Except Automobile Technician,
Ground Training Instructor, Indian Air Force (Police) and Musician} Trades and
Group ‘X’ (Technical) Trades will be held at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Meriema, Kohima
(Nagaland) from 03 May2013 to 08 May2013 as per the Selection Programme given below.
2.   SELECTION PROGRAMME. The Recruitment Test will be conducted from 7AM
       onwards as per the details given below.  Candidates reporting upto 10AM at the Rally
venue will only be permitted to appear in the Recruitment Rally.
 Note : - The Recruitment Test is not for selection as Commissioned Officers/Pilots/
Navigators.
ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
3. DATE OF BIRTH BLOCK. Candidates should be born between 01 MAY 1993 to
30 NOVEMBER 1996 (both days inclusive).
4. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
(a)    For Group 'Y'(Non-Technical){Except Auto Tech, GTI, IAF(P) & Musician} Trades:
Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / equivalent examination in any stream / subjects
approved by Central / State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and
50% marks in English.                                                                     OR
   Passed two year Vocational Course affiliated/recognised by CBSE/State Education
Boards/Councils duly recognised at par with 10+2 by Association of Indian Universities (AIU)
with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in Vocational Course
or in Intermediate/Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Vocational Course.
(b)  For Group 'X' (Technical) Trades:  Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / equivalent
examination with Mathematics, Physics and English, with minimum of 50% marks in
aggregate and 50% marks in English.                                             OR
     Three years Diploma Course in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical /
Electronics / Automobile / Computer Science / Instrumentation Technology /
Information Technology) from a Government recognised Polytechnic Institute with
minimum 50% marks in overall aggregate, and 50% marks in English in Diploma or in
Intermediate/Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Diploma.
Note : -  Exact aggregate percentage of marks up to first place of decimal for all subjects as
mentioned in the Marks Sheet of Intermediate or 10+2/equivalent (For example, 49.9% should
NOT be rounded off to 50%).



5.     DOMICILE REQUIREMENT.  To be eligible to appear in the rally at Indira Gandhi Stadium,
Meriema, Kohima (Nagaland) the candidates are required to satisfy the following
conditions:- (a)  Should have passed the qualifying examination from any of the RECOGNISED
BOARDS/UNIVERSITY.  (b)  The School/College/Polytechnic Institute from where candidates
have passed the qualifying examination should be within the geographical/administrative
limits of State of Nagaland, Assam or Arunachal Pradesh.  If the name of District is not
mentioned with the name of Institution in the certificate/marks sheets of qualifying examination,
the candidates are to produce 'Domicile Certificate' issued by DM/SDM/Executive
Magistrate or any official authorised by the State Government of Nagaland, Assam
or Arunachal Pradesh to issue Domicile Certificate. (c)  Permanent Domicile of  Nagaland,
Assam or Arunachal Pradesh, who have passed the qualifying examination from any where
in India.  However, such candidates have to produce the Domicile Certificate prior to
commencement of examination from appropriate authority as given in sub-paragraph
5(b) above. (d) Sons of Serving/Retired/Discharged/Deceased Air Force Personnel,
irrespective of their domicile status may be permitted to appear in the rally subject to submission
of Son of Air Force Personnel Certificate as a proof in the following categories:- (i)  Father/
Mother is presently serving in any Air Force Unit located in any Districts of Nagaland, Assam
or Arunachal Pradesh.(ii)   Ex-IAF personnel/families of deceased personnel who are
residing in any Districts of Nagaland, Assam or Arunachal Pradesh (on production of
proof of minimum stay of one year along with Original and a photo copy of
Discharge Book).
6. MEDICAL STANDARDS
(a)   General Medical Standards for both Group 'Y' (Non-Technical){Except Auto Tech, GTI,
IAF(P) and Musician} Trades and Group 'X' (Technical) Trades are as follows:
(i)  Height: Minimum height required is 152.5 cms.  (ii)  Chest: Minimum range of expansion
is 5 cm.  (iii)  Weight: Proportionate to height and age. (iv) Corneal Surgery (PRK/LASIK) is
not acceptable. (v) Hearing: Candidates should have normal hearing i.e. able to hear forced
whisper from a distance of 6 meters with each ear  separately.  (vi) Dental: Should have
healthy gums, good set of teeth and minimum 14 dental points.  (vii) Health:  Candidates
should be free from medical or surgical deformity.  He should be free from all communicable
diseases and skin ailments.  Candidates must be physically and mentally FIT to perform duty in
any part of world, in any climate and terrain.
(b)      Colour Vision, Leg Length and Visual Standards for both Group 'X' (Technical)
Trades and Group 'Y' (Non-Technical){Except Auto Tech, GTI, IAF(P) and Musician} Trades
are as follows: -

SELECTION  PROCEDURE
12.  VERIFICATION OF ELIGIBILITY. Certificates / Mark Sheets and other required
documents {NCC 'A', 'B' or 'C' Certificate, Son of Air Force Personnel
Certificate (SOAFP)} etc will be scrutinized and verified at the examination prior to
commencement of Written Test to ascertain the prima-facie eligibility.  Detailed
verification will be carried out in respect of candidates who pass Written Test later.
SEQUENCE OF EXAMINATION
13.   WRITTEN TEST.   Written test will be objective type and question paper will be
bilingual (English & Hindi) except for English Paper. Duration of the written test will
be 45 minutes for Group 'Y' (Non-Technical) {Except Auto Tech, GTI, IAF(P) &
Musician} Trades and 60 minutes  for Group 'X' (Technical) Trades.  Written Test
will be conducted in the following subject:
         (a)  For Group 'Y' (Non-Technical)  -  English as per CBSE syllabus of
                                                                         AISSCE and Reasoning & General
                                                                         Awareness (RAGA).
         (b)  For Group 'X' (Technical)          -  English, Physics and Mathematics
                                                                         as per CBSE syllabus of AISSCE.
Candidates are to qualify in each paper separately.  Results of the written test
will be declared on the same day.
14.   PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST (PFT) .  All candidates who pass the written test are to
undergo Physical Fitness Test (PFT) on the same or the next day.  PFT consists
of a 1.6 Km run to be completed within 8 minutes.  Candidates completing the PFT
in less than 7 minutes 30 seconds  will be awarded additional marks on a sliding
scale. Candidates are advised to bring their sports shoes and shorts.
15.   INTERVIEW. Candidates who have passed  the written test and PFT will be
interviewed.  Interview is normally conducted in English.  Working Knowledge of
English is thus essential.
16.   TRADE ALLOCATION TEST (TAT). Candidates of Group 'X' (Technical) trades who
qualify in interview are to undergo Trade Allocation Test (TAT) for bifurcation into
Mechanical and Electronic stream.  Specific trade allotment within these streams will
be carried out at Basic Training Institute (BTI), Air Force Station Belgaum (Karnataka).
 17.  MEDICAL EXAMINATION . Candidates who qualify in the interview will be medically
examined. Medical Examination will be conducted by Air Force Medical Team as per
Indian Air Force medical standards.  Candidates declared Medically Unfit can avail the
option for Appeal Medical Board (AMB) against their Unfitness by depositing Rs. 40/-
in a Government Treasury/RBI/SBI through Military Receivable Order (MRO). The
application for AMB along with original copy of MRO, Xerox copy of Unfitness Certificate
and Postal Stamp worth  Rs. 25/- affixed on a self addressed envelope are to be
submitted to 11 Airmen Selection Centre, VIP Chowk, Borjhar, Guwahati, for
processing within seven working days from the date of issue of Medical Certificate.
Note:  Candidates are also advised to get tartar and stains removed from
their teeth before appearing for the written test.  Ears should be free of
wax.   Candidates should be prepared to stay for the test for four to five
days under their own arrangements.  No TA/DA will be admissible.
18.  PUBLISHING OF ALL INDIA SELECT LIST (AISL).   The All India Select List (AISL),
will be displayed at 11 Airmen Selection Centre, VIP Chowk, Borjhar, Guwahati
(Assam) on 31 JULY 2013.   A copy of the Display List will be sent to District
Magistrate of  Kohima (Nagaland) through Airmen Selection Centre and also will be
available at Indian Air Force website www.indianairforce.nic.in. The inclusion of
names of the candidates in the AISL depends upon the performance of the candidates
in the Rally.

  9.   PAY & ALLOWANCES.  During training, a stipend of Rs. 8,550/-per month will be
paid.  On completion of training, starting gross emoluments including Dearness
Allowance (DA), at the minimum of scale of pay for  Group 'Y' (Non-Technical)
Trades will be Rs. 17,630/- per month (approximately) and for Group ‘X’
(Technical) Trades will be Rs. 21,414/-per month (approximately), which, in
subsequent years, may rise up to Rs. 33,299/- per month (approximately) for
Group 'Y' (Non-Technical) Trades and Rs. 37,788/-per month (approximately)
for Group 'X' (Technical) Trades as per sixth pay commission depending upon the
rank attained. Other allowances such as Transport Allowance, Composite Personal
Maintenance Allowance(CPMA), Leave Ration Allowance (LRA), Family Planning
Allowance, GCB+Classn pay, HRA etc are also admissible to airmen.

(Candidates should bring latest prescription and spectacles for corrected vision, if
used.  The prescription must bear the signature, stamp and registration  number of
Eye Specialist).
7.    WRITING MATERIALS AND DOCUMENTS REQUIRED.  Candidates are to bring the following
documents and writting materials along with them while coming for the examination:-
(a) HB Pencil, Eraser, Sharpener, Gum tube, Stapler and Black/Blue Ball Point Pen
for writting.  (b) Seven copies of recent (taken on or after 03 February 2013) passportsize colour photograph (front portrait, without headgear except for Sikhs).  Photographs
should be only on good quality “photo paper” with Light Background.  (c) Two unstamped
self addressed 24x10 cm white envelopes of good quality. (d) Original and three photostat
copies of all educational certificates, marks sheets and Domicile Certificate  as well as NCC
certificates (if applicable). UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES THE CANDIDATES WILL
NOT BE PERMITTED TO APPEAR IN THE SELECTION TEST WITHOUT ORIGINAL
MATRICULATION PASS CERTIFICATE, INTERMEDIATE MARKS SHEETS,
INTERMEDIATE PASS CERTIFICATE AND DOMICILE CERTIFICATE.   HOWEVER,
CANDIATES WITH PHOTOCOPIES OF MATRICULATION PASS CERTIFICATE,
INTERMEDIDATE MARKS SHEETS AND INTERMEDIATE PASS CERTIFICATE CAN
BE PERMITTED TO APPEAR IN THE SELECTION TEST ONLY ON PRODUCTION OF
A CERTIFICATE FROM SCHOOL / COLLEGE PRINCIPAL CERTIFYING THAT
EDUCATIONAL CERTIFICATES / MARKS  SHEETS ARE DEPOSITED WITH SCHOOL
/ COLLEGE. (e)  Consent Form: Candidates are to bring the "Consent Form" (as per the
format given in IAF Website) and submit it before PFT. In case candidates below 18 years of
age the Consent Form is required to be filled and signed by their parent/guardian.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
 8.      TENURE & TRAINING.  Enrolment is for an initial period of 20 years extendable upto the age
of 57 years.  Initially candidates will be sent for a Joint Basic Phase Training (JBPT) for 12
weeks at Basic Training Institute, Belgaum (Karnataka).  On successful completion of JBPT,
candidates will be allocated trades and sent for Trade Training of specified duration.  Training
is however liable to be terminated at any time trainee fails to achieve the required standards
in academics, profession, physical fitness and discipline or is found to be medically unfit.
After successful completion of training, the airmen will be deployed on ground based jobs
as per their trades.
10.   PERQUISITES.  Perks such as Ration, Clothing, Medical Facilities,
accommodation, CSD Canteen Facilities, Leave (60 days Annual and 30
days Casual leave admissible as priviledge), Education Concession to
children, Recreational Facilities, Free Transport for school going children
and Leave Travel Concession (LTC).  Not withstanding the above, Group
Insurance Cover of Rs.25,00,000/- at a premium of Rs.1,730/- per month, is covered
for all airmen and facility of Group Housing Scheme is also extended.  Other facilities
by Air Force Wives Welfare Association (AFWWA) are also extended for family
of airmen.

         (a)  Group 'Y' (Non Technical){Except Auto Tech, GTI, IAF(P) & Musician} Trades
involve jobs as given below:
        (i)  Admin Assistant  As an Admin Assistant you will maintain and analyse records,
files, information of personnel.  You will also manage ration supplies, cook houses and
Messes. (ii)  Accounts Assistant  As an Accounts Assistant you will record and
manage accounting of pay and allowances, equipment, logistics transactions, public
fund and cash flow etc. (iii) Medical Assistant You will be carrying out nursing and
first aid duties and also involved in management of Medical Stores, Dispensaries and
ward supervision.(iv) Logistics Assistants As a Logistic Assistant, you are involved
in the procurement, storage and handling inventory control as well as accounting of
Military Stores. (v) Environment Support Services Assistant (ESSA) This job
involves maintenance of the firefighting section.  It also requires that you ensure the
upkeep of hygiene of Air Force Campus. (vi)  Communication Technician  As a
Communication Technician you will operate, service and maintain all types of state of
the art communication devices, telephone exchange and radio equipment.
(vii)  Meteorological Assistant.  If you are a Meteorological Assistant, you are
trained to undertake weather observation and to maintain meteorological instruments.
You are also responsible for plotting of charts, taking balloon observations and
compilation of weather summaries.  (viii)  Ops Assistant. As an Ops Assistant, you
will operate various systems of Air Traffic Control Centre, Air Field and Air Defence
System.  You will be trained in operation of Radars, Display Units, reporting and tracking
procedures of Airborne Weapon Systems etc.
       (b)    Group 'X' (Technical) Trades involve jobs as given below:
        (i) Automobile Fitter. In this trade you are responsible for maintenance and repair
of all types of light and heavy duty mechanical vehicles, cranes and loading equipment
etc. (ii) Electronics Fitter. As an Electronics Fitter you operate and maintain Radar,
Voice and Data transmission and reception equipment mounted on latest airborne
weapon delivery systems and ground based air defence systems.  You will get
trained in Digital Electronics, measuring instruments, radar technology, latest electronic
devices and related trade fundamentals.  (iii)  Electrical Fitter. You will maintain
power supply system of latest types of aircraft, airborne missiles and associated
ground systems.  You will also maintain photo equipment mounted on air borne
weapon systems and operate ground based photo systems.  You will get trained in
electrical trade, operation and maintenance of digital devices, electronics devices
etc. (iv) Mechanical System Fitter. You will repair and maintain mechanical, hydraulic
and pneumatic systems of airborne missiles, engines, automobiles aircraft fuelling
equipment.  Complete aircraft ground support equipment will also be repaired and
maintained by you.  You will be trained in handling and preparation of bombs and
explosives and in electrical system, workshop and mechanical trades as well as
automobile mechanics.  (v)  Structures Fitter. As Structures Fitter you are responsible
for the maintenance and servicing of airframes and their accessories, components
and controls of aircraft.  Regular checks for the entire hydraulic and pneumatic
system to ensure proper functioning against leaks are also part of your duties.  You
will also be assigned the responsibility of marshalling, parking, picketing and ground
handling of aircraft.  (vi) Propulsion Fitter. In this trade you will repair, maintain and
prepare for use the propulsion system of aircraft and other airborne weapon delivery
system. (vii)  Workshop Fitter (Smith). You will undertake major structural repairs
of all aircraft at central repair facilities.  You will also be trained in workshop trade for
material treatment, welding, heat treatment, smithy and basic machine tools etc.  (viii)
Workshop Fitter (Mechanical). You will undertake repair and maintenance work
of mechanical nature. You will be trained in workshop trade and practices. (ix)
Weapon Fitter. In this trade, you will prepare, maintain and service armaments,
ammunition and safety equipment of aircraft, missiles and other weapon delivery
systems.  You will also operate and maintain small arms and bomb destruction
equipment.  You will be trained to handle bombs, explosives, arms and their installation
on weapon delivery platforms.
